Matt Krane sees some parallels between his own memories of a flag football game with Bob Weir’s Tamalpais Chiefs and the Denver Broncos’ frustrations this past Sunday

Maybe it was because I’d spent the entire second quarter and halftime sweeping pine needles from the roof, but when I sat down for the second half of the Denver – Jets game Sunday, my hamstrings were a little tight, my calf muscles were twitchy, and my lower back felt like I’d been bowling all day.
I still had a mild bitter taste in my mouth from Denver’s first-quarter field goal attempt, squandered by what looked like a celebratory end-zone ball spin instead of a snap to Prater’s holder. Then, the final drive, which was looking so promising and feeling so electric with less than a minute left … I, for one, feel the pain that rookie center J.D. Walton must be feeling. Because, I once traveled in his exact footsteps (cleat marks?).
