Monsoon flow expected to pick up as high pressure ridge moves to the east

SUMMIT COUNTY — On what’s forecast to be the warmest day of the week the temperature at 3 p.m. in Dillon had climbed to 83.4 degrees, just shy of the record high for the date, 85 degrees, set in the hot drought summer of 2002. With afternoon thunderclouds building, it’s questionable whether it will get any warmer.
By Tuesday, the National Weather Service is forecasting cooler temps with a significant chance of thunderstorms as monsoon moisture starts streaming into the region on a southerly flow. There’s a 40 percent chance of rain both Tuesday and Wednesday, dropping back down to a 20 percent chance by Thursday. (more…)
