Local grand jury convening for only the second time in about 40 years

SUMMIT COUNTY — In addition to investigating the death of Stephanie Roller Bruner, a grand jury being convened in the Colorado Fifth Judicial District will also investigate the 2006 death of Roberto Acosta-Reyes, who drowned in Keystone Lake after an end-of-season employee party.
The Summit County Sheriff’s Office investigated the death, focusing on three different men as potential witnesses who where with Acosta-Reyes the night he died. But law enforcement officials were never able to solve the case, District Attorney Mark Hurlbert said at a Summit County commissioner work session.
At the time, the sheriff’s office said it didn’t believe foul play was involved in the death, but Hurlbert said the new grand jury will investigate further. (more…)
