SUMMIT COUNTY — Eagle County emergency officials say they’ve managed to extinguish and contain a series of wildfires along I-70 that were fanned by strong afternoon winds.
The largest fire burned about three acres in Red Canyon, near Edwards, where crews are still working on mopping up the fire.
There were two other small fires near I-70 in Vail and another in Avon. All the fires were close to I-70 so there is some suspicion that the fires were somehow related to vehicle traffic on the busy interstate highway.
