SUMMIT COUNTY — Good news for outdoor music lovers in the Colorado high country. The State Bridge Lodge is back and better than ever, with renovated yurts and cabins and a new multi-terrace amphitheater featuring river views and a sand dance floor.
Already booked for this summer — Leftover Salmon for a June 12 show, the Campout for the Cause returns May 28, and Realm Music Festival is back, starting July 1. Click here to check out a video from last year’s Realm festival, and click here for the calendar of events. Stay connected with the State Bridge Lodge on Facebook.
The main building of the historic State Bridge River Resort Lodge in Bond was destroyed in 2007 by a fire. Investigators said they suspected arson.
That funky old building may be gone, but the current owners have refinished the rental cabins with hardwood floors and set up custom tipis for camping. A general store means you can grab those last-minute marshmallows on the spot, and a liquor store is in the works. Continue reading

The Realm of Caring and Campout for the Cause joined forces July 2 -3 at Rancho del Rio to raise money for local music education and for hands-on disaster relief in Haiti.
I attended the Realm of Music Festival at Rio Rancho on Saturday afternoon and evening, July 3th, 2010. It was a beautiful summer day and there was a large turnout for the festival. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to stay for all the bands since the music continued well into the night, but I’m sure it continued to be as fantastic as the groups I was able to stay for. Check out the embedded video below for a travelog and music, or go directly to the Summit Voice YouTube channel.

SUMMIT COUNTY — Music returns this weekend (July 2-3) to Rancho Del Rio, along the Upper Colorado, as the Realm of Caring Music Festival joins forces with Campout for the Cause to raise money for local music education and for hands-on disaster relief in Haiti.
The lineup for this year’s concert includes Great American Taxi, Shakedown Street, DJ Psychonaut and many more. Organizers say the idea is to include different styles of music that are connected by a philosophy of positive vibrations and a communal feeling. Along with performances by the band, there’s communal yoga, as well as drum circles. Click here for the full lineup and schedule.
