What I don't see in the recommendations above, is anything concerning "safety nor quality equipment testing". To rely on Shell or any other company that wants to drill up there to be safety conscious and/or making sure that the equipment used is first rate, new, pretested, as well as having quality control at the top of the list, not somewhere down there in the basement. When these companies know that they can get away with being fined if anything goes wrong, doesn't do any good after the fact. Corners will be cut, because that's the way the industry operates. To think otherwise, is like believing the rhetoric: "yes we can", and we all know where that has gotten us.

Interesting update. I do wonder, how you overcome the prejudices that have been instilled toward the wolf[s]? It still takes humans to complete the picture. But from some comments made, I really call into question, if that can be achieved? After all, it was humans that have caused the balance to become so off, as far as the commercial business of raising Cattle & Sheep are concerned. From a human standpoint, or should I say a European one, the taking of one species environment at that species expense, is what is wrong with this picture. The industry's free reign as far as grazing goes, the savings of having lookouts/range riders, should be changed. But that's just my opinion, though I'm sure others will disagree.

Dave, I've been trying to reach someone at Whole Foods but no luck yet. I'll follow up and find out what they're thinking. It could be a good regional spot for them and if they can get a good deal from the town (like any other potential developer) they may be tempted.

Are they pushing a square peg into a round hole!? This animal does not live well around people, never will! The ranchers were/are treated like second class citizens to the wolves. They are continually berated by the wolf faithful. It's no wonder the project is a failure. These same groups are now doing the same thing to the ranchers in Wallowa Co Oregon.

It is unusual to have such a mild winter in the U.S. during a La Nino year. However, weather is so variable and chaotic that is is tough to pin one season of weather on climate change. Extreme weather has become so commonplace that it's hard not to think climate change is involved. Another watchout is the increase in atmospheric moisture. It seem to be making rain and snow storms more extreme. On the other hand, after last year's brutal winter, it was a easier to be global warming skeptic.
