Morning photo: Bookends

Dawn to dusk …

Morning glow over the Continental Divide.

FRISCO — After a few gray and snowy days (not complaining, just saying), the sun came out with a vengeance Wednesday, but lingering high and mid-level clouds helped fuel a colorful sunrise over the Continental Divide. Since sunrise these days coincides with the time of day that I’m getting my son ready for school, I can’t go far — in this case just down the end of our lane, where the first two images were shot around 7 a.m.

The clouds lingered into the evening, and when I saw the wave clouds stacking up over the top of Grays and Torreys, I headed for one of our favorite spots along Dillon Dam Road to drink it all in. Never mind that the full moon rise was obscured, the awesome display of sunset color more than made up for it!

I'm forever trying to catch that elusive glow on the snow.
