Morning photo: Frosty goodness, in black and white

A little different look

FRISCO — For today’s set, I tried to think in terms of black and white from the very beginning of the day, even trying to remember the good old darkroom days, wondering what type of printing paper would have been good to bring out the incredible contrasts in these early morning scenes that are dominated by bright frost and dark winter shadows. It was a bit of a challenge to shoot; by the time there’s any light in the shadowed areas, the foreground frost is too bright for a good exposure. And to add some spice, I actually managed to break through some crusty wetlands ice, sinking waist-deep into the slush and muck, but managing to keep both cameras dry.
