Morning photo: June gems

Summer begins …

After a super snowy spring, summer started off looking quite wintry, with a thick snowpack still coating Peak 1 on June 1.

FRISCO — After a stormy and snowy spring season, summer started with a vengeance in June, quickly melting the snowpack and nourishing incredible displays of wildflowers. Another treat was watching a nesting pair of eagles warily guard their nest on an island in Dillon Reservoir. All in all, it was one of the best months of the year for photography in Summit County, and I had hard time narrowing down the selection of images, one of which will be featured as the June image in the 2014 Summit Voice calendar.
