Spring sneaks up in the high country

Wetlands dawn.

FRISCO — May has always been my favorite month in the mountains of the West. It’s got the best of both worlds — wildflowers and lilac blooming in the valleys, the rivers filling up with snowmelt, and up high, still plenty of spring snow for backcountry skiing. Here are some of the best May images from the archives.
