Melted fast, but looked good
By Bob Berwyn
FRISCO — It’s always exciting to see those first few dustings of snow, especially when they’re unexpected, like Monday morning. The weather forecast the previous day hinted at a cold front rolling in from the northeast, but seemed to suggest that it wouldn’t quite make it over the Continental Divide to the Western Slope. But dawn was gray and chilly, and without even getting that first glimpse of the peaks, you could FEEL that there was snow on high. Despite that initial flurry of excitement and breathless tweets from ski area marketers, the snow was mostly gone by mid-day — but don’t wait for one of the resorts to tell you about that. Nice late-summer weather is in the forecast for the rest of the week and right on into the first part of the weekend, but you have to love that first little winter appetizer.
