Landfall expected in northeastern Florida or southeastern Georgia

Tropical Storm Beryl is churning up the waters of the southwestern Atlantic and expected to make landfall early Monday.
SUMMIT COUNTY — Tropical Storm Beryl, which has been meandering off the coast of the southeastern U.S. the last few days, has reached tropical storm strength, with sustained winds of 60 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center.
A tropical storm warning is in effect for the area between the Volusia/Brevard county line in Florida to Edisto Beach, South Carolina, where tropical storm-force winds are expected up to 90 miles from the center of the storm.Water levels could reach 1 to 3 feet above normal near the coast just to the north of the center of storm, where the storm surge will be reinforced by large waves. Dangerous surf conditions and rip currents are expected along the coast from northeastern Florida to North Carolina during the next 48 hours, with anywhere from 3 to 6 inches of rain in the area.Beryl is expected to continue its westward movement while weakening to a tropical depression before turning north and northeastward, where it could regain strength over open water early next week but the forecast models haven’t been able to pinpoint the exact path and timing of the the turn yet.
