Fresh snow graces the Colorado Rockies
SUMMIT COUNTY — After several frustrating weeks of mostly mild and dry weather, the weather pattern changed for the better, bringing fresh snow to Colorado ski country, with more in the forecast for the next few days. Thanks to Colorado Ski Country USA and resorts around the state for providing the visuals to go along with the forecast.

There was snow in the early part of the winter, but it was tightly focused on the northern Front Range mountains, where the highest totals accumulated between September and November 2011.
Many Front Range locations have seen more snowfall than the ski resorts in the high country, including Nederland, with 88 inches. St. Mary’s Glacier, with 113 inches, is reporting the highest snowfall total for the season so far, with 50.5 inches in December. Get the rest of the totals for the Front Range at this National Weather Service website. Other spots with more than 80 inches for the season to-date include Genesee, with 93.7 inches (Vail has 95 inches for the season so far), and Coal Creek Canyon (83 inches). Golden is at 104 inches for the season, while Golden Gate Canyon State Park is reporting 112 inches.
