Free concert at Riverwalk Center to help town celebrate Breckenridge ski area’s 50th birthday

The Breck Birthday Bash features Los Lobos

BRECKENRIDGE — Los Lobos will bring their rootsy Chicano rock to the Breckenridge Riverwalk Center Dec. 16 to help the town celebrate the ski resort’s 50th birthday, during the Breck Birthday Bash. It’ll be a big weekend in town as the Winter Dew Tour starts Dec 15.
The Grammy–winning rock band from East Los Angeles has been known for spicing up hard-driving rock rhythms with traditional Spanish and Mexican instruments and music such as cumbia, boleros and norteños since 1984′s “Will the Wolf Survive?”
According to a November 15 interview with Los Lobos by Greg Kot in the Chicago Tribune:
“Louie Perez and David Hidalgo have been writing songs together for 40 years, providing the backbone for Los Lobos albums and a couple of Latin Playboy projects. Their tunes have been covered by artists ranging from Robert Plant and Pop Staples to Phish and Waylon Jennings. It’s a long, distinguished history that has merged vivid stories drawn from barrio life in East Los Angles with rock, Mexican folk music, soul, R&B, psychedelia and experimental pop.”
The public is invited to toast the day with free champagne and cupcakes on Ridge Street between Lincoln and Washington avenues. There, guests can pick up free VIP concert passes, watch the fireworks, and join the procession to the free Los Lobos concert.
4:45 p.m. Free champagne toast and cupcakes outside the Backstage Theatre, 121 S. Ridge St.
5:15 p.m. Fireworks display, followed by a procession to the concert at the Riverwalk Center, 150 W. Adams Ave.

Not sure you can use “Los Lobos” and rock (as a verb) in the same sentence.
Yawn.
Oh, C’mon, Ed. Don’t be so grumpy. Los Lobos are classic! And free! It’ll be a good show.
