Sunset, sunrise and snowfall

October sunrise looking over Dillon Reservoir from the I-70 overlook.

SUMMIT COUNTY — Once the leaves fall off the trees — usually in late October — there isn’t a whole lot of bright color left in the landscape, but the sky often makes up for it with brilliant displays, especially at dawn. October and November seem to be the months when layered lenticular clouds stack up over the Continental Divide, signifying a large-scale atmospheric shift. Help pick the October image for the 2012 Summit Voice calendar by voting in the poll at the end of the post. All photos taken in Summit County during October 2010 and October 2011.
