Dancing with the moon
Full moon rising ...
SUMMIT COUNTY — Challenging and interesting lighting during the moonrise Saturday, as the grayish clouds gave everything a strong blue tint. After trying the usual landscape level scenes, I tried playing around with a few other elements, including flash and different depths of field to frame the moon a couple of different ways. Purely an experimental photo shoot, so enjoy the whimsy! More pics after the break …
There's that blueish tinge I was talking about.
This was about as colorful as the sky got Saturday night.
So I started to try and frame the moon in some new ways. I started with this shot, trying to focus on the moon, intentionally blurring the branches in the foreground.
Then I zoomed in during post-processing and added some saturation ...
Then I took away all the color because I wanted to see what it would look like in a high-contrast, B&W version ...
And added a bit of flash ...
It's all good when the full moon rises!
