Summit Voice is nothing if not global!

It's a classic scene, but the image was a bit murky, so when I was looking for a photo to illustrate a story on global tourism stats, I tried to jazz this up a bit. In the end, I really grew to like it as a stand-alone photo. Click on the image to read the story about the global tourism rebound in 2010.

From Venice we take you to Deception Island in the South Shetland chain near the Antarctic Peninsula. Deception Island is a flooded caldera with one of the region's largest breeding colony of chinstrap penguins, a species under the gun from global warming. The Island of Corfu figures heavily in Greek mythology as a stopping-off point for Odysseus and Jason and the Argonauts, who probably didn't find any old mopeds like this during his sojourn.

The main square in Piran, Slovenia has a decidedly Venetian flair. Leigh both appreciated the fact that the statue in the center is not a general on horseback, but a composer with his violin. Learn more about this adriatic gem by clicking on the photo.
