Bridge work near the east portal of the Eisenhower Tunnel will require lane closures in both directions for several weeks starting Sept. 7.
Left lanes in both directions to be closed through mid-September, then the right lanes; expect delays during daytime

SUMMIT COUNTY — Highway crews with the Colorado Department of Transportation will use the lull between summer and winter to repair bridges along I-70, just east of the Eisenhower/Johnson Memorial Tunnel.
Starting the evening of Sept. 7, the the left lanes of eastbound and westbound I-70 will be closed at the Loveland Bridge, about a half mile east of the tunnel, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The closure is expected to continue for about two weeks.
In mid-to-late September, the left lanes will reopen, and the right lanes will be closed to traffic for about two to three weeks. The estimated completion date for all bridge work is Friday, October 8.
Drivers should expect slowing and possible delays through the area during daylight hours, especially on weekends. Full time lane closures are required on both bridges since the old decks have to be completed removed and the new concrete decks need to be poured and provided sufficient drying time.
The bridge work is part of a CDOT project that included paving the five-mile segment of I-70 to Bakerville, adding new concrete median barriers, guardrails and drainage pipes. All work is scheduled to be completed in October, in time for the ski season.
Motorists are reminded to please Slow for the Cone Zone, stay alert and obey all work zone and advisory signs and flaggers. Get updated information on road projects at www.cotrip.org and real-time updates on travel times at goi-70.com.
