High speed rail in Colorado is not a pie-in-the-sky dream anymore as advocacy groups and state agencies start to develop solid transit plans.
Move Colorado to host July 29 multi-modal transit round-table
By Summit Voice
SUMMIT COUNTY — For some people in Colorado, the idea of high speed rail is much more than a distant dream. Behind the scenes, several different advocacy groups are working to make that dream a reality sooner rather than later.
Move Colorado, for example, is hosting a July 29 roundtable on mass transit in the state, and the Rocky Mountain Rail Authority recently finalized a feasibility study showing that a high-speed rail network is not only technically possible, but could contribute $33 billion to the Colorado economy.
And just last month, the Colorado Department of Transportation formally launched a transit division, marking a shift away from a pure focus on highways to a more global view of how to address the state’s long-term transportation needs.
